Is there any software that you can use to transpose your recce notes into printed notes, or is it just standard keyboard keys? Would just look neater when reading

Years ago I made a sort of package around MS Word macros, so that I could produce neat looking notes and translate them to other languages for other crews I was working with. It did a fine job, but I don't use it often. The problem is that you rarely get a chance to check the printed version of your notes, so any transcription errors could have serious consequences. Better to make your hand-written notes legible I think. Another issue is that just the way a note is written can trigger my memory and help me remember the place and time my call correctly. You lose that with printed notes.

I have been looking at a few recce notes on video's etc from different events. The fact they can read them back , amazed me. Wasn't the neatest to say the least. Surely with the notes been typed out would you loose that detail and memory of a corner / bend / drop etc. You would underline the particular section and say put your own note above??

If your driver makes many changes when they check the notes they can be quite a mess. You have to tidy them up so that you can read them out easily & quickly. That can take quite a time, which can mean late nights during a recce. I started a recce today for an event next weekend and I have a lot of work to do to make today's notes ready. Looks like I am going to be burning some midnight oil this week.
You can devise any system you want to of course, but everyone I know uses underlining to indicate that notes should be read together. You would need some other system to add your own "notes" to the pace notes. I do this by putting my notes below the pace notes that I will call to the driver, and I put my personal notes in brackets.
Having printed notes is a nice idea but for a single crew I never think it is worth the effort, and not worth the risk of a transcription error causing an off.

I can see the advantage of corrections and following up with a neat copy at the end, just a thought on making your own printed copy. I suppose this could be done after the event in order to archive them, as a guide if you were to do the event again.
What event are you doing Expat?

I find it surprising how rarely I re-use notes, but I guess that depends on your driver and the events you do. One driver I compete with always says making fresh notes makes him concentrate more during the recce, for example. Also it depends on who keeps the notes. They are really the driver's notes. If I keep the notes after the event I may add some comments to them before filing them away, but I don't bother making a printed copy.
The event I am doing is the Arctic Rally in Finland. Recce Monday to Thursday, rally Friday & Saturday.

No. I have worked with Tony before but I am not with him on this event.

I cant talk for many people but I do archive all the events entered. Within a folder I place Pacenotes, Regulations, Finals, Road Book, Results and any thing I feel was of use at the time, even down to photocopying the stages on the map. By doing this I can cross ref any ammendments made to the Pacenotes with the relevant corner / hotspot on the map
